Estrela comemora 143 anos de emancipação política no dia 20 de maio. A nossa cidade celebra a data com muitos eventos culturais e esportivos em diversos pontos da cidade. O mês de maio é uma ótima época do ano para apresentar os pontos turísticos de Estrela para turistas. A gente separou alguns deles com uma breve descrição em inglês. Check ‘em out!
Menna Barreto Square
The main Square of Estrela is called Menna Barreto, and it is named after the founder of the City. The Square is wooded, it has many flowers and plants, and besides that, the place also has 8 monuments. This tourist attraction is located in front of Santo Antonio’s Catholic Church, which is the Mother Church of Estrela.
Chuck ‘n’ Ruth
The couple of statues located at the main access route of the city represents the strong German Colonization influence in Estrela. The junction of (Chuc and Rute) results in the word 'Chucrute', which is a German typical dish, and it is also the name of the most traditional Estrela's party.
Princesa do Vale Park
Well known as Parcão, the Princesa do Vale Park has playgrounds, volleyball, soccer and basketball fields, a walking and bike paths, and an outdoor gym, besides a beautiful lake. Our Park is a great place to spend time with your family and friends while you talk and drink Chimarrão.
Skateboard Park
The skating park near Princesa do Vale Park is a place where Young people go to hang out with friends, to skate, to bike and to draw graffit. It’s a place often visited by teenagers and young adults and it’s widely known among the citizens of Estrela for its easy access, great bank ramps, pyramids and local samples of graffiti art.
Staircase
Staircase used to be a beach, “ Prainha do Cascalho”. Nowadays, it is a place where people can han gout and observe the river. Once a month a fair of hand crafts happens there, it’s called “ Arte na Escadaria” and it has a live show. People can go to staircase their with families and friends to eat, shop, enjoy and drink tererê.
The Clock
The Monument is located near Princesa do Vale Park and it keeps the history of a skillful craftsman, called Bruno Schwertner, who immigrated from Germany to Estrela in 1890. The clock was donated by Nossa Senhora das Dores Parish Church, from Porto Alegre, and then it was fixed with perfection by Bruno Schwertner during 3 months. The monument was built in honor of this pioneer craftsman, and his passion for clocks.
The big sidewalk
In the past, 'The big sidewalk' was a big square, where no cars and motorcycles were allowed. Nowadays, it is the main commercial street of Estrela, where there are clothes, food and games stores, and besides that, our school is near 'The big sidewalk', too!
This is a great place to have ice cream, milkshake, eat crepe, hot dog, and to hang out with your friends and family.
